I believe in each person’s capacity for growth and change. Whether you wish to explore your identity (personality, qualities, beliefs, or expression), work through relationship challenges, find self-acceptance, strengthen places of belonging, harness the power of anxiety, cope and grow through grief and loss, heal from trauma or change ineffective behaviours, our work together will be collaborative, respectful and centred on what you wish to work on.
I bring a wealth of compassion to my work while applying my theoretical knowledge in diverse ways. I am particularly interested in looking at the roots of what causes us emotional and/or physical pain from a perspective that includes our whole self: mind, body and soul.
I bring my passion for people and connection to my work as a counsellor. I have worked with a variety of people including:
seniors and their loved ones coping with issues of aging (eg, dementia)
young people exploring challenges such as identity, anxiety, depression, trauma
people exploring gender and sexual identity
adults struggling with disability and/or role changes etc.
Throughout this work alongside my clients I have seen the resilience of the human spirit.
I have a strong ethical stance with respect for the uniqueness of others. I understand the importance of offering safe accepting space for clients with diverse intersectional contexts and situatedness. I am very honoured to work with my clients and value the trust they put in me. I hold a strong social justice value and strive to be an ally for marginalized people through listening and using my voice to assist with systemic change.
I am committed to ongoing research, learning and applying new skills such as training in parenting skills, managing anxiety, working with somatization, dream work and understanding the impacts of spirituality. I am passionate about the use of technology in ways that enhance our well-being. I speak on this regularly. I also work with clients to help them reach their goals for a healthy balance of technology use in their lives.
I find exercise, meditation and self-reflection to be critical aspects of my own mind/body integration for enhancing my well-being. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, doing improv singing, experiencing the arts, reading, playing in nature (biking and hiking), travelling and meeting new people.
I offer individual, couples and group counselling/psycho-education aimed at helping individuals improve their lives.
Please feel free to contact me for more information. I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to prospective clients.
