Dinyar Mistry, Registered Massage Therapist

After completing my bachelor's of engineering in 2000, I decided to follow my passion as a performing artist & senior dance/yoga instructor with the Shiamak Davar Institute for the Performing Arts(SDIPA). I spent 15 years teaching and travelling with the dance company in Malaysia, Egypt, China, London, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Dubai, Toronto and Vancouver. I was also trained in the Sivananda yoga lineage during the 300 & 500 yoga teachers training program from the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram in India and have completed the advanced ayurvedic studies course from the Institute of holistic nutrition in Vancouver.
During my journey as an Instructor/performer, I experienced the power of massage as a medium to provide therapy, comfort, relaxation and manage pain. This eventually led me to study at Vancouver College of Massage Therapy (VCMT) where they honoured me with The "Heart Award "for 'Unconditional positive regard for others combined with a passionate commitment to excellence in the massage therapy profession.'
My treatments involve both active and passive components. They include a thorough history and assessment of the body. Muscle testing in various positions allows me to check function and compensation patterns. This helps in unravelling the layers associated with the surface presentations taking us closer to the cause. The tissues are then treated with P-DTR and various Orthopedic/Swedish techniques. A personalized home care plan is also given to reprogram the patterns.
When not at work, I love being surrounded by nature, mediating, listing to music and spending time with my friends and family. Through "Intention Wellness," I conduct wellness workshops based on breathwork, yoga and movement. Some of my favourite authors are Paramhansa Yogananda, Khorshed Bhavnagari, Anthony Borgia, Brian Weiss and Paulo Coelho.
