Neural Therapy Treatments

Neural Therapy involves the injection of vitamins, local anesthetics (procaine or lidocaine), and/or other low-dose compounds to treat chronic pain and other symptoms caused by nerve dysfunction. Frequently, this dysfunction results from some form of nerve interference left behind by past trauma or injury. When the body experiences trauma, the autonomic nervous system (ANS) automatically turns ON, prompting us to be very aware of the damage and, by extension, to do something about it. The problem is that in some instances, the ANS fails to turn itself off, leading to chronic nerve interference, chronic muscle contraction patterns, and, of course, chronic pain.

Neural Therapy works by altering pain pathways and nervous regulation of other physiological processes, cutting off the signals that tell your body to take action. Some patients improve from the first treatment, but it typically takes 3-6 sessions to determine whether Neural Therapy will be effective in your case. If and when your body accepts the “new normal” created by the injections, this treatment can provide lasting relief from chronically contracted muscle/tendon fibres, connective tissue, and neuralgia (nerve pain).

CAUTION: Even if you feel measurably better after the first session or two, this is no time to abandon caution. While you may feel less pain, the underlying pathology likely remains, and now that your pain response has been blocked, you may reinjure yourself. Talk to your therapist before resuming exercise or other strenuous activities.
