In a world of disconnection and distraction from our own selves and bodies, massage therapy offers that rare opportunity to slow down, tune in and connect with ourselves. A lot of valuable information can surface during a session that we were not aware of as we live so much of our lives on autopilot.

With over a decade of experience as an RMT, I've been blessed to witness the power of massage therapy, particularly with its effect on the nervous system. Most of us are familiar with that post massage feeling of bliss and perhaps have noticed how that can lead to a better sleep that night or a deep release of stress we may not have even known we've been carrying around. Decreasing the firing of our sympathetic nervous system aka our “fight or flight” response can have many ripple effects on our well being. This is the area of bodywork that intrigues me the most and that I feel most passionate about.

I am a graduate of Sutherland Chan School & Teaching Clinic, 2011, Toronto. My treatment style tends to favour a blend of myofascial release, trigger point therapy, general swedish massage, passive and sometimes active movement to free areas of restriction and holding. I typically use what I consider a more moderate pressure, but will work deeper where and when needed. However, we all sense pressure differently so you'll get the most satisfaction if we keep an open dialogue regarding pressure or technique and what feels good to you or doesn't. I absolutely love and welcome feedback while I'm working as it helps guide toward the treatment you're looking for.

Sometimes we just want to get a massage for the sole purpose of relaxation which is perfectly acceptable and there need not be any other reason to come in than to relax. Other times we seek an RMT to help with more serious conditions like acute pain from injury or chronic pain from things like less than ideal posture, work strains, various traumas and just life. Massage therapy can be very helpful for pain but more often than not, a collaborative approach is required to see significant and lasting change. This might mean a referral to a physiotherapist, etc. to add active therapy or it might just mean we need to think about increasing movement, stretching or strengthening practices in our daily life.

I look forward to welcoming you into my treatment space.
